What Bolt does
Everything you need to see and stop threats, and nothing you do not. Here is exactly what Bolt does.
Quick, full, or custom-folder scans. Detects known-malware hashes, the EICAR test signature, and heuristics like executables hiding in temp and downloads. Uses ClamAV too if installed.
Finds how malware actually hides: startup persistence, suspicious processes running from temp or downloads, and network listeners exposed beyond your own machine.
A clear 0 to 100 dashboard gauge, weighted by severity, so you know at a glance where your machine stands and whether it is improving.
Reversible isolation. Threats move to a managed store, so you can restore a false positive or delete it permanently. Nothing is destroyed without your say.
Watches the folders you choose and flags or quarantines threats as files land, so downloads are checked the moment they arrive.
Bolt checks for new versions on launch and installs them only after verifying the download's SHA-256. Never silent, never unverified.
How it works
Get the free installer for Windows, straight from sudowave.com. About 25 MB.
Run the installer. If Windows SmartScreen appears, click More info then Run anyway (see the note below).
Open Bolt and run a scan. Read your security score and act on whatever it flags.
About the SmartScreen warning. Bolt is a new publisher still building download reputation, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC." This is not a sign the file is unsafe. Click More info then Run anyway, and if you want to be certain, verify the SHA-256 below first.
Security and privacy
Downloads are served over HTTPS from sudowave.com, updates are verified before they run, quarantine is always reversible, and no telemetry is required to use Bolt.
Verify your download
File: Bolt-Setup.exe
In Windows PowerShell, run Get-FileHash .\Bolt-Setup.exe and compare it to the sha256 value in latest.json, which always matches the current release.
System requirements
Windows is available now. macOS and Linux downloads go live once published to sudowave.com.
Honest about scope
Bolt does on-demand and scheduled scanning, plus real-time folder monitoring. It is not a kernel-level always-on shield, and we will never pretend it is. It pairs well with Windows Defender by adding scanning and system-threat visibility on top.
